A True Story and an Inspired Haiku

Before you read this haiku, you need to understand something. You need to know the story of Amy Phillips and me. Below  is a picture of the two of us when she came to visit me in Philly last summer. You can read our story after the break.

Trees

The oak stands singly
As soil washes away
A forest of one?

Wave

In a tsunami
Not one droplet acts alone
But thousands as one

Alchemy

Lightning is fire.
Wind is naught but the water.
What, then, makes men whole?

War

The lightning flashes,
Stripping the tree of its bark,
Ensuring its death.

Tree Bark

A tree from hardships
Grown in ground where it was born
Becomes too rigid

Seeds

Even plants must mate
But bees carry not my seeds
So what can I do?
